Translating identity into a wearable object.A design study exploring how HAY’s visual and material language could translate into wearable technology.

This project explores how HAY’s design language could translate into wearable technology, developed as a conceptual headset aligned with the brand’s visual and material identity.
For this edition, House of Āto co-developed the concept together with Arno Vereecken and Jelmer Vervoort. The work focused on interpreting HAY’s approach to form, colour, and tactility within a new typology, moving from early sketches and material studies to 3D modelling and final renders. Particular attention was given to proportion, surface treatment, and the relationship between object and body.
The result is a design study presented as a cohesive object, reflecting HAY’s minimalist principles while extending them into an unfamiliar context beyond furniture and interiors.
